What Songafi is
What is Songafi?
Songafi is a custom song service that turns your own memories about someone into an original, fully produced song. You answer a short set of questions about the person, choose a genre and a voice, and receive a finished track written only about them. It is bought mainly as a gift for weddings, milestone birthdays and anniversaries.
How does a custom song work?
You fill in a form that takes about ten minutes, and we write and produce a song from your answers. The questions ask how you know the person, what they always say, and one or two stories worth telling. Those details become original lyrics, which are then recorded with studio-quality vocals in the genre and voice you picked.
Is the song written by AI?
Yes, the lyrics and the recording are produced with AI, working entirely from the details you provide. Nothing is pulled from a template or an existing song, and every line traces back to something you wrote in the brief. We check each song against your answers before it is delivered, and rewrite anything that does not match.
Is a custom song a good gift?
It works best when the person is difficult to buy for and already has what they need. A song built from your own memories cannot be bought by anyone else, it gets played out loud in front of people who recognise every reference, and unlike flowers or a voucher it survives the week. Milestone birthdays and weddings are the most common reasons people order one.
Price and delivery
How much does a custom song cost?
Songafi custom songs start at $21.99. That is Standard delivery within 16 hours. Priority delivery within 4 hours is $29.99, and Express delivery within 1 hour is $39.99. Every option is the same full song, and there is no subscription or recurring charge.
How fast can I get a custom song?
As little as one hour, on Express delivery. Standard is within 16 hours and Priority is within 4 hours. The form itself takes about ten minutes to fill in, so ordering the night before an event is realistic.
Do I need an account to order?
No account is needed, and no card details are stored. You fill in the brief, pay once, and the finished song arrives by email on its own page.
Can I order a custom song last minute?
Yes, Express delivery returns a finished song within an hour of you submitting the brief, which covers the morning of a party or the night before a wedding. Pick Express at checkout and keep an eye on your inbox.
The song itself
How long is the finished song?
Two to three minutes, which is the length of a normal single and of a wedding first dance. It has verses, a chorus and a full arrangement rather than being a short jingle or a loop.
What genres can I choose from?
There are more than twenty five genres, including piano ballad, acoustic folk, pop, country, soul, gentle rock, R&B, hip hop, afrobeats, reggae, gospel, jazz, Bollywood and bhangra. You can pick one, or blend two so the song sits between them.
Can I choose a male or female singer?
Yes, you choose a male or female vocal in the form, or leave it to us to match the voice to the story and the genre. The vocal is recorded to studio quality either way, with real phrasing and breath rather than a flat read.
Can I write my own lyrics?
Yes, you can supply your own lyrics. Choose the option to write your own when the form asks how you would like to tell us about the person, paste your words in, and they will be recorded as written in the style and voice you pick.
Will my song sound generic?
The specific details you give are what stop it sounding generic, so the brief matters more than anything else. A brief that says someone is kind produces a forgettable song; a brief that mentions the dented blue tin on their windowsill and the phrase they say before hello produces one their family recognises instantly.
Writing the brief
What should I write in the brief?
Concrete, small, specific things. The phrase they always say, a habit everyone teases them about, one story the family retells, and something they quietly did for someone. Plain sentences are ideal, and you do not need to write well for the song to land.
I am not a writer. Will my answers be good enough?
Yes, and this is the part people worry about for no reason. The questions ask for facts and memories, not prose, and rough honest detail produces better songs than polished writing. You supply the raw material and we do the writing.
Can several people contribute to one brief?
Yes, and the songs tend to be better for it. Collect a few lines from family or friends in a group chat first, then paste the best details into the story question so the song draws on more than one person's memory.
What if a detail comes out wrong in the song?
Tell us and we rewrite it at no extra cost. If a name lands oddly or a memory is not quite right, we would rather fix it than have you hand over something that is only nearly right.
Rights and what you receive
What do I actually receive?
The finished song on its own page with the full lyric sheet, plus a high quality audio file you download and keep. You can play it at an event, send it to family, or put it on a phone for offline playback.
Can I play a custom song at a wedding or a party?
Yes, the song is yours to play at events, hand to a DJ or band, and share with family and friends. There is no watermark, no expiry and no separate licence to buy for playing it at your own celebration.
Does the song expire or need a subscription?
The song never expires and there is nothing recurring to cancel. It is a one-off purchase with no subscription, no recurring fee and no expiry date. The download is yours permanently.
Is my brief kept private?
Yes, your brief and the finished song stay private. Song pages are excluded from search engines and carry a private access link, so a finished gift never turns up in someone's search results before you have given it to them.
Still deciding?
Listen to a few real songs first. They were all made through this exact process, from briefs like the one you would write.
